2018 Colorado Zinfandel (Black Vineyard)

$32.00

The new vintage of Black Zinfandel is a great example of the elegant side of the varietal. There’s plenty of fruit, but it maintains a vibrant, exuberant freshness that’s often absent in large production examples. Further, it has a subtle tangy spice character that makes it an interesting choice for food pairing. Don’t worry though, it tastes great on it’s own too! This might be the most approachable, easy drinking Zin we’ve produced so far.

Who doesn’t love good Zinfandel? It’s one of America’s most historic grapes, and for many years was the preferred varietal of farmers and immigrants planting vines. Robust yet balanced, Zinfandel (when made naturally) can make truly great wine. Sadly though, most of these original vines were torn up during prohibition. Indeed, there isn’t much Zinfandel planted in Colorado now days…

With Zinfandel’s scarcity in mind, we were completely excited to meet Dallas Black who planted a brand new vineyard of Zinfandel right here in Colorado! Black’s vineyard is located in Northern Palisade, right in the shadow of Mt Garfield and Mt Lincoln. Zinfandel isn’t the easiest grape to grow, but Black has done an amazing job maturing these vines. Planted in 2003, they are producing delicious grapes that would make any Zinfandel fan proud.
